Weekly Changelog: Monday, August 18

Today is Monday, August 18. No changelog last week, as I was out of office, so this week's update covers the past two weeks at Neon. Last Wednesday, August 13, was National Left Handers Day, and the Monday the week before (August 4) was both National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and National White Wine Day. Southpaws, enjoy your day, presumably with the chocolate chip cookies on the left and the wine on the right.

We took our first steps on enabling BLIK in Poland! This payment method requires specific approval from the provider, so reach out to us if you're interested and we can get the process started.

  • Jinting added support for BLIK

We continued our work on our in-house fraud model:

  • Jinting added dispute events (opened, won, lost) to our model
  • Luis added historical events to seed the model with training data
  • Jinting improved our internal monitoring of our fraud pipeline
  • George removed a fraud check that was improperly blocking some free checkouts from completing

We made a few changes to our checkout UX:

  • Shreyas added a new defaultPaymentMethod field to the POST /checkout endpoint to allow preselecting a preferred payment method
  • Shreyas updated the checkout page to auto-expand the cart pane for single-item carts

We made it easier for admins to manage developer pricing sheets and fees! Look forward to faster turnaround times on pricing sheet updates and fee structure changes.

  • Rohan added a bulk-enablement tool to launch new countries faster
  • Rohan updated the pricing sheet page to make it easier to make changes inline
  • Rohan updated the fees page to simplify the process of making changes

Daily streaks are continuing to drive traffic to our webshops! As always, reach out to your Neon rep to get started.

  • Julia made the streak claim behavior more failure-tolerant
  • Julia updated the streak countdown timer copy to make things less ambiguous for shorter time periods (e.g. 60 -> 60s)

And, as always, a few miscellaneous changes:

  • Elangeni updated our asynchronous payment method handlers to handle payment methods that take longer to resolve more gracefully
  • Jinting improved the accuracy of our GET /prices endpoint by correctly marking unsupported countries
  • Shreyas updated our alerts to stop paging us on a few known errors, helping our engineers get a little more sleep at night
  • Shreyas updated a bug with our API key generation form not showing feedback when submitting
